How can you reflect on this from a ๐๐ž๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ perspective?

Take for example, ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ ๐š ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž.

You show up on time, you sit on your mat quietly, you listen to the teacher when they begin. ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ฒ๐จ๐ง๐žโ€™๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ž.

When you land in space for your sadhana, does your mind cloud with self judgement, self doubt? Beyond your mat, asteya is more than not physically stealing. It is to abandon the very ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ญ or ๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ซ๐ž to possess or take anything-whether it is material, relationship, achievement, success, time-that ๐๐จ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ primarily belong to you, through force or deceit or exploitation, by deeds or words or thoughts.

To fully embody this, it is important to look ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž of the want. Does this arise out of greed? A sense of lack? Powerlessness? Out of comparing yourself?

Just be conscious, aware of the body, the mind in space.

Ahimsa (the first yama in yogic foundational principles) is often understood as non-harming or non-violence. But itโ€™s not solely about how we treat othersโ€”itโ€™s also about how we treat ourselves. In a world that constantly pushes us to go faster, do more and work on the externals, practicing ahimsa means embracing compassion, gentleness and mindfulness toward our own bodies and spirits.

Itโ€™s about listening to our healing intuition and choosing to follow it. It means giving ourselves permission to rest and letting go of the need to always be productive. It can also meaning giving yourself the extra push of love and courage in trying something new and beneficial. True self-care aligns with ahimsa because it allows us to nurture ourselves in ways that promote balance and well-being. By carving out time for stillness, reflection and choice, we can truly honor our needs without judgment or guilt.
