Are you interested in becoming a certified yoga teacher? Or maybe you’re a practitioner interested in thoroughly deepening your personal practice? Yoga teacher training is an experience of a lifetime. Terra Firma will provide you just that; the solid ground for your life as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). You will learn how to thoughtfully & intelligently construct a Vinyasa yoga class, how to articulate yoga philosophy in your classes in your very own way, proper alignment and dynamics of the asanas (poses), safe and applicable anatomy and of course, finding YOUR voice, your style, your rhythm and the courage that lies within you to TEACH.

After over a decade of hosting these 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, our extensive experience ensures that we not only impart the essentials but also cultivate a deep, well-rounded understanding in our trainees. We are dedicated to nurturing great instructors who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to inspire and lead their own students with excellence.

Teacher training gave me the tools for self awareness and empowerment and the skills to bring this to others. The training program is extremely comprehensive and thorough asking you to think outside of the box for sequencing, providing a complete awareness of the anatomy of the human body and it’s relation to the space that it encompasses. There is a large focus on both the spiritual and physical body as well as many important themes in yoga. Change lives through yoga

"After a period of time practicing with Meg, but before Terra Firma was official, I felt a loud and urgent call to take a Yoga Teacher Training. I didn't fully understand it, but I heard it and asked right after class at a different studio about any programs in the area. Just a few days later, while still researching my options, Meg announced she would be hosting her first YTT. I knew without a doubt she was the teacher I wanted to learn from. Despite this, I still hadn't reconciled what this call was and I had a lot of questions. Who did I think I was taking a course in teaching yoga when I had really only practiced for a few years? How would I afford the time and the money? What if I was no good at it? What if I wasn't spiritual enough or healthy enough? These questions and others remained until (and some throughout) the training, but they ultimately became inconsequential because YTT was so much more than learning about how to perfect and instruct the poses. In addition to that, I walked away from YTT with a more broad understanding of the history and foundations of a practice I love; a beautiful and sacred circle of friends; a deeper level of peace and self-confidence; a desire to share my love for life and yoga through teaching; enhanced compassion for myself and others; and a teacher I adore. YTT is challenging and requires sacrifice and commitment, but completing my RYT-200 with Meg remains one of the best investments I have ever made in myself."

Meg

Born and raised in Albany, NY by a lineage of school teachers – I came to yoga after years of self-destructive behavior, partying and heading down the wrong path in the fast lane. I stumbled into a yoga class at a gym attempting to “change my life,” and something just clicked with me there. I continued my practice for a couple years at the gym and local studios until I stumbled upon a teacher that brought me to tears every single class. Something was moving, shifting inside of me. I was going through some big changes in my life and yoga became my form of medicine and healing. After sticking with that teacher (thanks Elex for the years of crying savasanas) for a number of years, one day in class as we were prompted to set our intention, I knew I wanted to share this gift that was given to me through the ever-marvelous practice of yoga. I pursued my first yoga teacher training and was lucky to be able to teach for a while at some wonderful local studios. I soon after pursued a second teacher training, sprinkled with inspiring workshops and continuing education opportunities with master teachers nationally over the years. I am so lucky to have crossed paths with such wonderful teachers and numerous students that have opened my eyes to the intricacies and magic of this practice and encouraged me to continue expand my studies and stay ever inspired (and mesmerized!). Eventually, I decided it was time to open a studio and the rest is history! One of my passions has always been building community and I am now able to nourish a community that is so special and important to me, my own journey, and with the hand of Divine Grace, the Capital Region at large.
