Elex Scheels is a dynamic yoga teacher who incorporates deep spirituality into her creative flows. Her sense of humor balances the challenging asana practice as she helps students move out energy that does not serve (ego, judgment, resentment) to make space for higher qualities (gratitude, peace and acceptance) to move in. She truly believes every soul has a defined purpose on this earth and it is our responsibility to know that purpose and serve it.
Elex started practicing yoga in 1998 after losing her father to cancer. Her exciting lifestyle working professionally in NYC coupled with such a dynamic loss propelled her into a constant state of chaos. Yoga offered the opportunity to identify, feel and deal with these internal and external conditions while uncovering her true purpose in life.
Her practice began under Bryan Kest Power Yoga™ that developed into an ashtanga only practice after moving to Albany, NY in 2002. In 2008, Elex begin teaching at the Capital District’s first HOT Yoga Studio teaching a strong hot vinyasa flow. Her training started under Bryan Kest and includes trainings/certifications from the Baptiste Institute, Seane Corn Yoga and Gopi Kinnicutt’s Bhakti-Infused Teacher Training.
She credits her practice of yoga for allowing her to continue to access and appreciate life’s gifts and remain calm in the midst of life’s inevitable chaos through the trust and faith in her Divine, God. She is grateful for her husband, Patrick and their opportunity to raise their triplets, Sydney, Michael & Cole (14) in Voorheesville, NY.
